Amsterdam Day 3

In addition to the museums, we also enjoyed the Bols tasting and a wine/cheese tasting. Lucas Bols founded Bols in 1575 in Amsterdam. We ended up going to the museum with a tour.

P1030398The tour included the history of the company, with old historical bottles. The tour took you through a “World of Flavor.”

By far the best part was the smelling room. There were bottles (estimated 30-40) filled with different liquids. Similar to a perfume bottle, you spray some of the liquid out and then guess what it is. I am actually really good at this, my husband, however, is not as good. Finally, at the end we could taste two flavors of the Bols and also get a cocktail. I tried the honey and cherry. Kevin tried the barrel aged one and mango. I really liked the honey one and bought a bottle of it on the way out. The mixed drinks were also great.

Overall, you definitely want to go to Bols. Especially, later at night. We arrived around 8:45pm, after dinner. There were only a few other couples around.
