Although the seminars/classroom discussion were very interesting, my favorite part was the cultural aspects of the Summer School. On the first night, students arrived at different times. The organizers and other students were very nice and everyone stayed in the dining room waiting for everyone to arrive. Dr. Akay, immediately began to share his love of Turkey. Throughout the week, he shared the history and experiences of Turkey and other countries. It was amazing how many places he has visited and the unique experiences he has had.
The second night, they took us to the Symphony, where we heard the Sinfonia Varsovia and Piotr Anderszewski. The music was beautiful, ranging from from the intense dynamic tune to the softer lullaby. The pianist was extremely talented and you could feel his love for the music.
Midway through the week, we toured many famous sites in Istanbul. I am highlighting only one of the sites we visited in this post. I will have another post focused on the other locations. The Dolmabahçe Palace , served as the main administrative center of the Ottoman Empire from 1856 to 1922.
The buildings and views are gorgeous, however they did not allow any pictures inside.
